Introducing Josh, our new social media specialist. Hailing from Maple Ridge, B.C., Josh is a seasoned pro in creating captivating social content and driving high-converting campaigns. With a diploma in Digital Communications and Media, he successfully led the Social Media department at a boutique agency in Lethbridge, AB. In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at GMD. What do you do on a daily basis:<\/span><\/h3>\n

At GMD, my main responsibility as we speak is to brainstorm and write quality social media content that connects and resonates with the average reader as they are scrolling through their social platform of choice. As a Social Media Specialist, you have to be in tune with the fact that people generally don\u2019t go to social media to see ads! So our job is to capture\/earn their attention without coming across as just another attempt to sell to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Describe yourself in three words (it\u2019s hard, I know):<\/span><\/h3>\n

An old soul.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personal kryptonite?<\/span><\/h3>\n

TikTok\u2026 It must be enjoyed with care; otherwise, you may find yourself on the couch consuming for hours like a never-ending bag of chips. Speaking of, it doesn\u2019t get much better (or worse) than a night with a bag of Tostitos and Mrs. Refro\u2019s Green Salsa. Those two things, possibly together, are my kryptonite\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Hidden talent?<\/span><\/h3>\n

My radio voice! Part of my educational background included broadcast radio, and many are surprised when I get a chance to flex my radio vocal cords when the call for a voiceover recording comes along. But don\u2019t ask me for a live sample!<\/span><\/p>\n

Hobbies?<\/span><\/h3>\n

I am one of those people who has too many hobbies and not enough time to devote to them. But, my main hobbies that I DO get to enjoy on the regular are:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Music. I am a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has been in various bands over the years.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. I am an avid vinyl collector! I even have my own vinyl blog @VinylSpin_YVR on social media, where I share photos and stories from my personal collection. The most recent addition to Vinyl Spin is the pop-up shop which I launched in December of \u201822. Find me at many local markets and events around Vancouver to buy some records!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A cause\/causes you are passionate about:<\/span><\/h3>\n

    I am passionate about mental health. In today\u2019s day and age, there is so much more awareness and help out there, yet so many people still don\u2019t know about it or how to identify the need for it.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Favourite quote?<\/span><\/h3>\n

    \u201cLife moves pretty fast. If you don\u2019t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.\u201d – Ferris Bueller<\/span><\/p>\n

    Best part of your job?<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Being surrounded by like-minded creatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

    What are you reading?\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

    “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki.<\/span><\/p>\n

    What are you typically doing on a Saturday afternoon?<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Record shopping or out on an adventure with my wife.<\/span><\/p>\n
