Sam is well-known for being super focused at work. Try to stand\u00a0by\u00a0her desk quietly and you’ll be ignored until she\u00a0gets up for lunch.<\/p>\n

What\/who inspires you and why:\u00a0<\/strong>I just watched Abstract on Netflix so I thought Platon<\/a> the photographer was really inspiring. I admired his humility and kindness. He seemed to be able to either get on the same level has his subject or at least make them comfortable enough that they could tell him their story, however difficult.<\/p>\n

Best UI\/UX website or app you\u2019ve seen: <\/strong>Airbnb<\/p>\n

Favourite form of analog art: <\/strong>Painting<\/p>\n

Whose work has inspired you the most (any creative figure): <\/strong>Kenya Hara<\/a><\/p>\n

When is it appropriate or inappropriate to incorporate personal style into commercial work: <\/strong>When it serves the user or the main audience in such a way that it really clarifies who the business is and what they\u2019re offering. In other words, when it balances user needs with business goals.<\/p>\n

You currently have a handful of projects that are undergoing revisions and an urgent request just landed on your desk. Describe your work process: <\/strong>I work in the order that things came to be first if they are urgent requests. I have a notebook that\u2019s just full of dates and deadlines that enjoy highlighting and checking. I also sketch things out once I\u2019ve read the varied forms of instructions I get, that usually helps to clarify what I\u2019m supposed to do and speeds up my process.<\/p>\n

Favourite project you\u2019ve worked on: <\/strong>I\u2019ve really enjoyed working on Pure Luxe Painting\u2019s website. I got to meet the clients, which is actually rare, but so far the process has been really smooth.<\/p>\n

Side-hustle: <\/strong>Painting<\/p>\n

Album of the year (fine 2018 is included too<\/strong> Good because its only been 2 months!): Language<\/a> by Starchild & The New Romantic<\/p>\n

One thing school taught you and one thing it didn\u2019t:<\/strong><\/p>\n

School taught me to take and give criticism in a way that is constructive to the design process. It didn\u2019t tell me how to get a job in design. But eventually going to BCIT did teach me that.<\/p>\n
